Car Washing Tips and Tricks

Do you want your car to be cleaned, spick and span and look totally brand new? Do you want to wash your car but are too possessive about it to take it to the automatic cleaner?

If yes, you will be glad to know that with some simple car washing tips and tricks you can give your car a professional looking wash in your garage. Most of these tips are unique and recommended by experts. Best of all, everything you need for them should be lying around somewhere in your home.

  • Here is an unexpected car washing tool; baby nappy wipes. Wipe the dashboard and trims in the interior of your car to leave a great protective film over them. Wiping with these will also make the interior shine longer.
  • Got some large old soft socks lost in your cupboard? Don’t throw them out just yet, they will clean the interior and exterior of your car just as well as any “special cloth” from the market will. Use soft socks to wax and wipe the exterior of your car and it should look brand new.
  • Smelly car issues? Fortunately there is a car washing tip for that too. Begin by spraying a household odor product directly in the air intake which is usually inside the car right underneath the wind screen. Once you have done this turn on the air conditioning system of the car on full blast and leave it for five to ten minutes to take care of any excesses.
  • Want that beautiful streak-free shine on your car’s windows too? Use old newspapers to dry the windows after you washed them.
  • Plenty of people like to take their pets around with them in the car. This may leave hair on the seats that will not go away by simply thrashing the seat or wiping it.  A good trick to get these off easily is to wipe the seat with a wet glove; the static effect will pull the hair right off the seat and onto the glove.
  • While washing your car, check the windscreen for any streaks left on it by the wind screen wipers. You do not need to worry about these, they can be easily removed with this simple trick. Wipe the blade with a mixture of water and white vinegar; this serves to remove any particles that were adhering to the blade and causing it to leave streaks on the screen.
  • Soft paint brushes are the perfect tool to clean hard to reach places on the exterior and interior of your car.
  • Here is a “don’t” of car washing; never ever use dish washing soaps and powders to clean your car. The salt in these products could degrade the paint on your car over time.
  • Another “don’t”; leaving dirt on your car for longer periods of time is a bad idea. This could lead to the development of stubborn stains that can be almost impossible to remove completely.
