The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a road rage incident that led to the damage of a vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Bonita Beach Road.

Video taken by a Naples Daily News reporter shows a driver of a van kicking and denting the door of a pickup truck.

The van’s driver, Ronald Boffil, 43, who works for a Cape Coral granite and marble company, said he was driving south in his work vehicle on U.S. 41 North to a job on Immokalee Road when he was passed by a Chevrolet pickup, registered to Curt E. Suskevich, 39.

“He tried passing me really fast, like 70 mph,” said Boffil, who added that his English is not good. “He put his finger outside the window. ‘Hey, why you driving so slow.’ I’m driving slow, I’ve got a lot of cars in front of me.”

When the truck stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection of Bonita Beach Road, Boffil stopped beside him and got out of his van.

“I’m going to try to talk to him. ‘Why did you put the finger out?’” Boffil said. He never opened the window and he put the truck to my truck, and I’m in between.”

Video from the scene shows Boffil kicked and dented the passenger door of the Chevy. He then got back in his van and drove off. When reached on the phone, Suskevich handed the phone to a Lee County deputy investigating the incident.
